Described by The New Yorker as a ‘sympathetic talk therapist wrapped inside a life coach and zipped into a fast-fashion bomber jacket…”, Karamo Brown, who trained in psychotherapy and worked in social services, is a three-time Emmy winner and culture expert on the Netflix reboot of Queer Eye.

A proud and dedicated gay single father of two boys, Karamo uses his experience overcoming colorism, physical and emotional abuse, alcohol and drug addiction, and a suicide attempt to relate to all different types of people with ease and natural comfort.

In his memoir, Karamo My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope, he challenges us to explore our difficulties and have hard conversations to adjust our mindsets, heal emotionally, and move forward to live our best lives.

Because of everything he does to make the world a more understanding and positive place, we are thrilled to partner with Karamo to increase awareness of the Take Action for Mental Health campaign.  Karamo is the living embodiment of what California’s ongoing mental health movement is about – checking in with ourselves and others, learning every day, and knowing when to get support.

“The truth at the heart of it is we all have emotions that we go through that are happy, that are sad, that are challenging, that are hard and it’s important for us just to make sure that the people we love that are around us are OK.”
– Karamo Brown
